Description

Technology is changing every day, bringing us scientific breakthroughs never thought possible, access to information we never dreamed of, entertainment we couldn’t imagine, and more. However, as we watch the world change before our eyes, we also have questions about the impact this increased access to technology and media has on children, ourselves, and our future. Presenting perspectives from both sides of the debate as well as current research regarding children and youth’s relationship with technology and media, this three hour workshop supports professionals to find technology balance for children, youth, and themselves.

Objectives

  • Recognize the positive and negative impacts of technology and media in relation to children
  • Review current research findings regarding topics related to technology and media such as marketing, sexting and sexual content, violence and aggression, and bullying
  • Identify strategies for finding a balance in technology use for children, youth, and ourselves
